Math:
September 2025: Interpret the structure of linear, quadratic, and exponential expressions with integer exponents. Understand solving equations as a process of reasoning and explain the reasoning.
October 2025: Practice creating equations that describe numbers or relationships.
November 2025: Understand the concept of a function and use function notation. For example, given a function representing a car loan, determine the loan balance at various points in time.
December 2025: Learn to make a mathematical model for a real-life issue in your town or home by identifying variables, formulating a model, analyzing and interpreting the results, and validating the conclusion
January 2026: Make geometric constructions. Focus on circles and triangles, understand, and apply geometric theorems. Know definitions of angle, circle, lines, and distance.
February 2026: Focus on the interpretation of data. Make inferences and conclusions from quantitative data. Use probability to evaluate outcomes of decisions.
March 2026: Practice reasoning quantitatively and use units to solve problems.
April 2026: Perform operations on polynomial expressions. Practice and understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under certain operations.
May 2026: Learn about Cavalieri’s principle of geometry
June 2026: Make two and three-dimensional objects. Visualize relationships between two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects.
English Language/Literacy:
September 2025: Focus on citations and textual evidence to support analysis of texts. Focus on figurative and rhetorical meanings of words and phrases. Apply figurative and rhetorical meaning to your writing and speaking.
October 2025: Focus on grammar, punctuation, spelling, and new vocabulary words. Apply new vocabulary to your writing and speaking.
November 2025: Focus on independently reading and analyzing historical documents from different parts of the world and analyzing diverse points of view.
December 2025: Identify false statements, incomplete truths, and fallacious reasoning from different readings. Make a critical analysis of the reading.
January 2026: Focus on reading non-fiction from different genres, cultures, and perspectives
February 2026: Analyze various accounts of a subject told in different media (books, videos, etc), determining which details are emphasized or deemphasized in each account.
March 2026: Practice writing informative and explanatory texts. Practice new vocabulary words. Practice writing argument essays. Revise it, edit and rewrite it.
April 2026: Conduct research. Gather information and draw evidence. Present your research project and present evidence.
May 2026: Practice scholarly discussions. Respond thoughtfully to culturally diverse perspectives.
June 2026: Introduction to the MLA handbook and Turabian’s Manual for Writers. Open a blog on Tumblr and write reviews of the books you read to practice writing in a public and interactive platform.
History:
Continue the class about US Law and continue to read about world history
September 2025: Focus on the origins of the Revolution and Constitution: economic growth and social, political, and religious changes in early US history.
October 2025: Learn about the Civil War and Reconstruction until World War I
November 2025: Focus on world history from 500 BCE to 1200 CE, including the life and work of philosophers, scientists, and artists.
December 2025: Read about the kingdoms and empires from the year 1000 to 1500
January 2026: Focus on global exploration, conquest, and colonization from 1492 to 1800
February 2026: Read about the purposes, principles, and institutions of government in the US
March 2026: Focus on the civil rights movement
April 2026: Learn about scarcity and economic reasoning. Supply and demand, market structures, trade, and the role of financial institutions.
May 2026: Learn to earn and spend income. Open a savings account and learn to manage your own money.
June 2026: Learn about the history of Panama and Chile.
